Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The price of $1400 could be a bit steep, but it is often offered for sale to make it more affordable. The unit looks great and the base station takes up very little space in a corner of a room.

This robot's design addresses some of the issues we've encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop units, such as the brushes getting caught in hair, and the brush being unable to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The sweeping performance on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system is equipped with the highest level of debris pickup, and the mop is able to saturate bare floors quickly.

The mops utilize a clever system that cleans the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot is able to easily get around obstacles like food bowls, toys and backpacks. However, it could get stuck or entangled with smaller and flatter objects, such as shoelaces USB cables and pen.

We used this robot to vacuum and mop a mixture of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet, and hardwood floors within a large, open floor layout. It cleaned and mopped the area of 90m2 in 170 minutes using FREO Mind enabled.  floor vacuum robot robotvacuummops  is about the average for Gen 4 robots.

Certain features differentiate this robot from other robots in its class. The Freo X Ultra has a slew of software, sensor and hardware enhancements designed to keep it at the top of its category. It promises 3.5 hours of autonomy in environments up 260m2.

You can alter a variety of functions from the Freo app, such as how often the robot returns to the base station as well as its mopping frequency and power (silent or smart) and mopping humidity. The app is able to detect areas that are heavily soiled and create an efficient cleaning route, as well as dispense detergent or raise the pads on carpet.

Other notable features include a simple-to-read display on the robot's underside and an access door for docks that is convenient to open. The Freo X Ultra is the best vacuum and mop for home or apartment owners who are looking to reduce their chores while still keeping their homes tidy and clean.

Miele Scout RX3

Miele is not a slouche in the world of robot vacuums and has a reputation for quality and innovation. This new robot is designed to elevate the cleaning performance to a whole new level, thanks to its smart features.

The RX3 has a dual suction system and intelligent navigation that includes 3D mapping and a camera which sends live images to your smartphone for effortless control. The RX3's powerful four-stage system for cleaning provides excellent dust removal on hard and carpet floors, while its easy-to-use swing-out side brushes and dual suction channels clean in corners. The 8.5 cm height means it can get under furniture that is low, and front cameras and infrared sensors help it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease.

In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda from baseboards and in corners, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction was less powerful than other robots, but it was still very quiet and swift in its movements. It didn't mop however, and its removable cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and couldn't cope with dried-on dirt.

Its app isn't equipped with advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa however its voice controls aren't particularly intuitive or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow an earlier route however the RX3 is a mess until it quits.

Another issue we had was with its intelligent features, particularly the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. While it did a good job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily hung up by socks and cables, and was unable to handle the tassels that adorn rug. That's the reason we didn't choose to include it on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth looking into as an alternative to the traditional uprights.
